My First words flashcards
50 first words. 50 conversations waiting to happen.
- Your child has fewer than 50 spoken words
- They recognise things but don't yet name them
- You want to build vocabulary in a structured way
- Speech therapy has started and you need home practice cards
- They learn better from images than from spoken instructions alone
The idea behind it
First Words is a bilingual deck of fifty foundation words across eight categories: food, animals, body parts, home objects, transport, clothes, people, and nature. India-contextualised throughout — steel thali, auto-rickshaw, Indian sparrow, humped cow. Each card has the word in English and Hindi, plus a category-coded corner dot so you can sort by theme.
Use it for receptive labelling ("Show me the dog"), expressive naming ("What is this?"), or simple matching games. Designed with our OT panel.
Best for
Children at developmental age 2–5 building their first 50 words across everyday categories.
What's inside
How to use it at home
Start with 5 they already know
Pull five cards for things your child can already point to — favourite food, pet, body part. Show one at a time. Name it. Let them point or hand it back. Build the routine before adding new words.
Add 2 new words a day
Introduce two unfamiliar cards alongside the five known ones. Name each one, place it in your child's hand, name it again. Five-minute sessions, not twenty. Short and frequent beats long and rare.
Switch to receptive play
Spread out six cards. Say "Show me the dog." Your child points. Celebrate. Then "Where's the dosa?" Receptive understanding always comes before expressive — they'll point long before they say.
Reviews
Every product is designed with occupational therapists
Our clinical panel works with Indian children every day. Every product is reviewed for safety, developmental fit, and how well it works in a real home — not just a clinic. If your child's OT recommends something different, listen to them first. We're a tool, not a substitute for therapy.
Take the 5-minute Readiness Check
17 questions across 6 areas. At the end, you'll get a personalised list of which tools are right for your child today — and which to wait on.
